Live in Birmingham

So you’ve fallen in love with the city, experienced it’s fun, fast food and Fassbender films. You fancy staying a little longer – what’s next? For cheap accommodation with young studenty types head to Moseley of Selly Oak. Both areas have had a lot of regeneration over the years but are still relatively affordable and also dotted with bars, pubs and cafes ready to satisfy your hungers, quench your thirsts and obey your alcohol addictions.
Prices: The costs of a room/an apartment
Monthly rent for one room will cost around £160 and for two bedrooms it will be from £350. That’ll be around a third more if you’re living as a couple. Be sure to have some savings at the ready as you’ll likely need to pay one month’s rent in advance and one months rent deposit before or on moving in. Cash is usually preferred for this.
Where to find a place to live
To find your place try the classified section of local papers The Birmingham Post or The Birmigham Mail. Alternatively you can try the paper’s website for property www.midlands-homes.com or international website geared to tourists and expats www.gumtree.com, which has a section for Birmingham as well as surrounding cities and which also have a notice board for short terms stays.
